Photography has always been a great passion of mine. I have grown from being mesmerised when I was small and watching my father using his Leica camera to being able to capture that moment, scene or event with my own camera, allowing my photographs to tell their story.
I am half British and half German and grew up in Hamburg, Germany. After graduating from university in Edinburgh, Scotland, I worked for two multi-national organisations in Australia and Singapore for several years. However, I left the corporate world behind in 2004 to fulfil a life long ambition of setting up my own freelance photography business.
I am now based in London after having worked as a freelance photographer out of Asia for many years. I have a wide range of experience and expertise in corporate, events, interior, portraits, sports, eduction and documentary photography. My travel assignments take me to many places around the world, capturing the landscapes, culture, and people of remote locations. Work for corporate clients includes creating high-quality photographic images for promotional material and marketing tools. I also very much enjoy working with people, and my genuine interest in each individual person and their environment, achievements, or situation is clearly evidenced by my body of work. This quality is always apparent, from the intimacy of individual portraits to the insightful documentation of large-scale events such as award ceremonies, highlights of the cultural calendar, or sporting fixtures.
I will offer my creative input to you as a client at all times. In addition, my people-oriented and international outlook coupled with the diverse photographic opportunities and challenges I have had over the years means that, I can easily tailor my work to your specific needs, if required. Although I am based in London, I happily take on assignments further afield.
In 2014 I felt honoured being offered the opportunity to become an Olympus Visionary, which I proudly still am today.
My work over the last 16 years has featured in national and international magazines, books and newspapers as well as many online platforms.
Thanks so much for reading my photography bio. I look forward to hearing from you!
Communications and Events Manager, UCL
“Kirsten is my go-to photographer for large and small scale events at UCL. Awards ceremonies, conferences, seminars, exhibitions - she’s done them all.
Kirsten follows the brief and is always able to capture the atmosphere in her beautiful photography. She is professional, personable and most importantly, reliable - I can’t recommend her enough for your events.
Kirsten’s photography also features across digital and print media at UCL. Her stunning images are widely featured in our prospectus and are used to bring many UCL websites and articles to life. She’s also our first choice for high profile portraits. If you’re looking for high-quality images, I can’t recommend Kirsten enough.”
“Our head of marketing was looking for new photos of our new business jet maintenance hangar and VIP passenger terminal that would really showcase the facility and make it stand out. Kirsten really delivered with simply amazing photos that were way beyond what you would expect to see from a facility shoot. The photos just jumped out at you. An amazing use of natural light combined with creativity, producing stunning results in terms of colours and contrasts. Kirsten ended up photographing our facilities globally for our marketing and promotional materials.”
Associate Professor, UCL
“Kirsten captures the moment, the aspects of yourself that will speak to your audience in a very unique and distinctive way. I loved the dynamism in my portraits, the immediacy and professionalism they conveyed which has helped me build the relationships I need at work. There is only so much that text can communicate; a portrait says so much more. Kirsten effortlessly guided me through this process and captured my best moments. Thank you Kirsten!
In addition, working with students who are senior practitioners at UCL means that we are shaping the world by introducing new professional standards and identities. Kirsten is the only photographer I have worked with who was able to capture the future-shaping outlook of our students. Kirsten guided the students and worked with them to create a series of portraits which helped the students see themselves as responsible future leaders and project this identity in their social media and throughout their networks. Thank you, Kirsten. ”
Student Experience Manager, UCL
“I would highly recommend working with Kirsten. We've asked her to take student cohort photographs for a few years now, working with groups ranging from 5 to 300 people. Despite various challenges with UCL locations, Kirsten always goes out of her way to ensure everything will run smoothly and the end photographs will be perfect. Our staff and students have found Kirsten a pleasure to work with, and have been consistently been delighted with her photographs.”
Always love seeing a Red Squirrel! The red squirrel is most often found in coniferous woods. Scotland is home to over 75% of the UK’s red squirrel population. In this photo the squirrel is holding a hazelnut. They feast on hazelnuts by cracking the shell in half. #redsquirrel #redsquirrels #red #wildlife #cairngorms #woods #cairngormsnationalpark #scotland #mammal #nature #naturephotography #naturelovers #naturephoto #naturelovers #natureshots #naturesbeauty #natureonly #wildlifephotography #wildlifeonearth #wood #climatechange #wilderness #greatoutdoors #travelphotography #discoverearth #olympusvisionary #olympusexplorers #olympuscameras...
This was my first time photographing Osprey. It was unbelievably exciting but didn’t quite realise how early I had to get up to capture this amazing creature. I more or less waited 4 hours from 4am until I got this first dive! It’s over in seconds but the thrill of capturing the osprey with a fish it it’s claws was worth the wait! #osprey #bird #birds #wildlife #nature #rainbowtrout #fish #fishing #splash #diving #water #thrill #excitement #bbcspringwatch #aviemore #hide #wildlifephotography #climatechange #birdsofprey #wings #eye #naturephotography #cairngorms #cairngormsnationalpark #rothiemurchus #olympuscameras #omdrevolution #olympus...
